ScalesThe Maryland Center for Civic
Education (MCCE) is a non-profit organization
specializing in promoting civic education
initiatives for both students and teachers. The
major goals of the MCCE are to:
- foster an interest in the study of civic
education among educators and other interested
persons;
- conduct research in civic education;
- develop, edit and publish materials related
to the teaching of civic education;
- organize in-service programs and
conferences;
- serve as a clearinghouse and consultant for
civic organizations.
MCCE was chartered as a non-profit organization
in 2000, is affiliated with the nationally known
organization The
Center for Civic Education in Calabasas,
California and is part of the CIVITAS network. MCCE
administers a variety of the Center for Civic
Education programs and is the home of CIVITAS
Maryland, a Civic Education Exchange program
currently partnered with Oregon, Delaware, and the
Ministry of Education and Sport of the Republic of
Croatia. | |
